Lil&#8217;Miss is really into making &#8220;potions&#8221;, so she&#8217;s often asking which herbs are good for which uses. Because I would like to expand my herbal knowledge as well, we&#8217;re doing it together and each of us are putting together a materia medica- or a book of herbal knowledge.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/museofthemorning.com\/museblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/herbalstudy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/museofthemorning.com\/museblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/herbalstudy.jpg\" alt=\"Herbal Nature Study - resources, printables, recipes and more on Muse of the Morning\" width=\"700\" height=\"1000\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2899\" srcset=\"https:\/\/museofthemorning.com\/museblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/herbalstudy.jpg 700w, https:\/\/museofthemorning.com\/museblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/herbalstudy-450x643.jpg 450w, https:\/\/museofthemorning.com\/museblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/herbalstudy-300x429.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For each herb, we&#8217;re looking up the medical and culinary applications on a couple of good websites and in some books that we own. Then we&#8217;re each creating a page for that herb to keep track of that information. If we can locate the herb in nature nearby, we&#8217;ll take a walk to find it and collect specimens. We&#8217;ll also print out a photo or drawing for the herbal page.<br \/>\nThen, we&#8217;ll do a few recipes with the herb. Along with each herb, Lil&#8217;Miss will also learn the different ways to prepare them. We&#8217;ll explore which part of the herb is used and the best way to prepare that part.<br \/>\nThe plan is to learn about which herbs are in season and take about a week with each one.<\/p>\n<p><b>PRINTABLES\/NOTEBOOKING PAGES<\/b><br \/>\nFirst you need a way to record the information:<br \/>\nThese are the pages that I created for Lil&#8217;Miss and I to use. This is a great place to start!<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sagemountain.com\/the-formulary\/materia-medica.html\">Rosemary Gladstar&#8217;s Materia Medica<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thepracticalherbalist.com\/\">The Practical Herbalist<\/a> &#8211; this is a wealth of information<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.anniesremedy.com\">Annie&#8217;s Remedy<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.herbsociety.org\">The Herb Society<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ourherbgarden.com\/herb-history.html\">Herb History<\/a> &#8211; a little history and folklore about a few herbs<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.earthwitchery.com\/herbsa-g.html\">Earth Witchery<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.themagickalcat.com\/Articles.asp?ID=242\">Magickal Properties of Herbs<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>BOOKS:<\/b><br \/>\nIn addition to the above websites, I highly recommend these books.
