Lil\u2019Miss is really into making \u201cpotions\u201d, so she\u2019s often asking which herbs are good for which uses. Then we\u2019re each creating a page for that herb to keep track of that information. If we can locate the herb in nature nearby, we\u2019ll take a walk to find it and collect specimens. We\u2019ll also print out a photo or drawing for the herbal page.<br \/>\nThen, we\u2019ll do a few recipes with the herb. Along with each herb, Lil\u2019Miss will also learn the different ways to prepare them. We\u2019ll explore which part of the herb is used and the best way to prepare that part.<br \/>\nThe plan is to learn about which herbs are in season and take about a week with each one.<\/p>\n<p><b>PRINTABLES\/NOTEBOOKING PAGES<\/b><br \/>\nFirst you need a way to record the information:<br \/>\nThese are the pages that I created for Lil\u2019Miss and I to use. This is a great place to start!<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sagemountain.com\/the-formulary\/materia-medica.html\">Rosemary Gladstar\u2019s Materia Medica<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thepracticalherbalist.com\/\">The Practical Herbalist<\/a> \u2013 this is a wealth of information<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.anniesremedy.com\">Annie\u2019s Remedy<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.herbsociety.org\">The Herb Society<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ourherbgarden.com\/herb-history.html\">Herb History<\/a> \u2013 a little history and folklore about a few herbs<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.earthwitchery.com\/herbsa-g.html\">Earth Witchery<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.themagickalcat.com\/Articles.asp?ID=242\">Magickal Properties of Herbs<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>BOOKS:<\/b><br \/>\nIn addition to the above websites, I highly recommend these books. They are indispensable in our house!<br \/>\n\u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1580174256\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1580174256&linkCode=as2&tag=artist05-20&linkId=2WI37AVA4EK32Q5H\">Rosemary Gladstar\u2019s Family Herbal: A Guide to Living Life with Energy, Health, and Vitality<\/a> (Affiliate link) \u2013 This is by far the best and most important herb book we use in our house.<br \/>\n\u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1885003366\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1885003366&linkCode=as2&tag=artist05-20&linkId=PPTSPJTUDCOADU4R\">Kid\u2019s Herb Book, A: For Children of All Ages<\/a> (affiliate link) \u2013 this one is excellent with coloring pages and activities especially geared toward kids. It doesn\u2019t cover a ton of herbs, but it gives really kid-friendly activities and information!<br \/>\n\u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0486274624\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=0486274624&linkCode=as2&tag=artist05-20&linkId=RTGAVN3GM5BCY2US\">Medicinal Plants Coloring Book<\/a> (affiliate link) \u2013 this is nice to go along with printed out photos!<br \/>\n\u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0875421229\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=0875421229&linkCode=as2&tag=artist05-20&linkId=WF6WV6QHRM4IKACI\">Cunningham\u2019s Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs<\/a> (affiliate link) \u2013 I don\u2019t have this one yet, but it is on it\u2019s way.
