This Renaissance Maiden pattern makes it simple to sew a historically inspired English ensemble perfect for Renaissance Faires, Medieval parties, costume parties, or just dressing like a princess. The bodice, chemise, skirt, petticoat, and coif come in two sizes that will easily fit your child from ages 4 to 12. The pattern includes tips and techniques for expanding the outfit to make sure it lasts through every growth spurt. Embroider, embellish, and trim to your heart’s content, confident that this outfit will spectacularly adorn your child for many years.
This pattern and instructions are intended for Intermediate Sewing Level.

Size 1 | Bodice Bust: 22 – 26 inches | Shift Length: 30 inches
Size 2 | Bodice Bust: 24 – 29 inches | Shift Length: 34 inches
The Renaissance Maiden pattern features more than 20 pages of easy to follow instructions, notes on historical accuracy, including details you can add to make the outfit even more authentic! There are instructions for making the outfit last through multiple ages and sizes. The instructions also feature a printing chart to print out just the pattern pieces that you need!

Suitable Fabrics & Notions & Measurements Needed:
BODICE: outer and lining fabric – sturdy fabrics like quilting
cotton, corduroy, velveteen, duck cloth, wool suiting, wool flannel,
brocade, 7oz linen – 2/3 yard of outer and lining fabric needed
inter-lining fabric – cotton muslin, duck cloth, canvas
– 2/3 yard interlining fabric needed
notions – size 00 metal grommets and grommet setter, awl, linen or
leather lacing cord
Note: If using a heavy weight fabric for the outermost layer of the
bodice (like duckcloth or wool), it is recommended that you use a
lighter weight fabric (like quilting cotton or linen) for the lining.
CHEMISE, APRON, COIF: cotton muslin, lightweight linen,
lightweight quilting cotton
– 2 1/4 yards fabric required for chemise
– 2/3 yards fabric required for apron
– 1/3 yard fabric required for coif
notions – 1/4 inch wide elastic, white narrow double fold bias tape,
white extra wide double fold bias tape (optional)
Note: The chemise and coif should be made of white fabric. A
working apron should be white, but a fancier one might be made of
another color.
PETTICOAT & SKIRT: wool flannel, medium or heavyweight
linen, quilting cotton, broadcloth
– 2 yards fabric required for EACH skirt
notions – 1/2 inch wide elastic
